Office hours, Friday, February 16

[captainliberty]

Captain Liberty is in her office, and while it may look like she's doodling, what she's really doing is plotting out the next simulation for class. She's still got to decide who she can use, though. Because after all, if there are some people in The City she had to deal with, she really should share the pain love.

Luke popped his head into the room. "I didn't die!"

"Congratulations!" Captain Liberty says, and is kind of glad that probably means she can't be brought up on charges for not locking him in a room somewhere. "How'd it go?"

"No one got eaten!" Luke said, grinning.

No, he wasn't kidding.

"That's... both interesting and worrisome," she admits.

"Oh, I forgot to plan for a trap door," Luke said blithely. "There was a giant drooly monster thing. I killed it with a rock. Or a skull. Something that was on the ground."

You know, Captain Liberty's not sure she's ever going to be entirely prepared for this kid. "You fell through a trapdoor and killed a monster with a skull," she repeats, trying to process it.

Luke nodded. "Yeah. It made his keeper cry. I felt badly about that."

"Was it going to eat you otherwise?"

Luke nodded.

"Then it sucks to be him, you did what you had to," she decided, nodding.

Luke shrugged. "I'd prefer to do the rescuing thing with less loss of life next time. None of my people--though it was a close thing when the tentacle monster grabbed Lando's leg--but, yeah. I think a Jedi's supposed to be better than this."

"A what?" Yeah, she's new here. Jedi are kind of unknown where she comes from.

"Jedi," Luke repeated. "Um, superheroes where I come from. Without the weird outfits."

Not that wandering around Earth dressed in all black with knee-high boots and a robe was precisely normal.

Captain Liberty, all boobs and cape and spandex, says "The outfits aren't weird. It's merely people's perception that's off."

Luke considered that. "I've seen stranger outfits," he admitted.

Briefly. While racing through Mos Eisley as Aunt Beru told him to stop staring.

But that wasn't important.

"I guess you're my mentor now, huh? I don't have to call you Master, right?"

"Definitely not. I'm not that kind of girl," she says quickly. "You can call me Captain Liberty, and I will call you..."

It's just occurred to her she has no idea who this guy is.

"Luke," he supplied. "Luke Skywalker."

"Good to meet you, Luke," she says. "So is there anyhing specific you, um, needed guidance or anything on? Not doing drugs, gangs are bad, all that?"

Luke shook his head. "Not that I can think of right now," he said. "But I can come back again later, right?"

"Of course. As often as you want," she says. "That's what I'm here for."

"I'll stop by a lot, then," Luke said with a shy smile. "Have a good day, ma'am."

She was just ma'amed. She'll facepalm later.

"You too," she tells him.
